Our Veterinarians

The health and well-being of the Dalmatians that we take into rescue is our first priority.

All our Dalmatians visit an experienced veterinarian before being made available for adoption.

All our Dals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, given fecal and heartworm tests, and microchipped.

In addition, they receive any and all additional veterinary care that they need.

We are grateful to these men and women for the excellent care they give our Dalmatians.

Jet went to his forever home in September 2006.

Dr. George Balster, DVM
Bethany Animal Hospital, DeKalb, Illinois

Dr. Balster has seen the Dalmatians fostered in DeKalb over the past seven years.

Here, he examines Jet, who came into rescue in August 2006 from a shelter in Indiana. Jet was only 10 months old. He was a real sweetie, and a very good boy at his vet visit.

Jet found his forever family a short time later.

Bruno celebrates Christmas 2006 in his new home.

Dr. Louis Cronin, DVM
Dwight Veterinary Clinic, Dwight, Illinois

Dr. Cronin provides veterinary care for the Dalmatians fostered in Pontiac, Illinois.

Here, he examines Bruno, who was taken into rescue because his elderly owner could no longer care for him. Bruno was a handsome liver-and-white boy who was eleven years old. He had been well taken care of before he came to us. Dr. Cronin cleaned Bruno's teeth before we sent him to his new home.

Bruno went to his new home in September 2006.

Bop (aka Comet) went to his new home on October 7, 2006.

Dr. Elizabeth Clyde, DVM
Clyde's Animal Clinic, Mattoon, Illinois

Dr. Clyde is our veterinarian in Mattoon. She often sees our most serious patients — those who are very young or very old. She treats many of our heartworm positive Dals.

Here, Dr. Clyde microchips one of Ginger's puppies. She also gave the puppies their first vaccinations and examined all to make sure they were progressing properly.

The puppies recently celebrated their first birthday. All are in their original homes and doing well.

Ginger's puppies were born on August 9, 2006

Dr. Annalisa Switzer, DVM
The Vetmobile, Charleston, Illinois

Dr. Switzer is a traveling vet in the Mattoon area. She makes housecalls whenever a special visit is needed for a routine matter.

Dr. Switzer cared for Ginger in the days leading up to the birth of her puppies in August 2006. Ginger gave birth to nine beautiful puppies. All the puppies survived and did well.

Ginger was a wonderful mother!

Zach went to his forever home on December 24, 2005.

Dr. Steven Abel, DVM, Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgery
VCA Aurora Animal Hospital, Aurora, Illinois

Dr. Abel is one of the specialty veterinarians to whom we take our Dalmatians with special needs.

He performed emergency surgery on Zach, who had been hit by a car and had received no care for a week following the accident. Zach did well and his leg was saved.

Zach went to his forever home for Christmas!
